Where to Eat Around Cam Nam: Local Picks Near Fairy Garden Villa

After “what’s the fastest way to the Old Town?”, the question our guests ask most is simple: “Where should we eat tonight?” Fairy Garden Villa sits in a quiet residential neighborhood on Cam Nam Island, so there is no strip of glowing restaurants right outside the gate. Don’t worry though: when hunger strikes, a 10-minute bike ride puts dozens of options within reach, from a humble bowl of pho to a riverside dinner at sunset.

Here are the places our own family and our guests keep going back to, grouped by area, with addresses so you can find them easily on the map.

1. Right by the villa: local stalls on Nguyen Tri Phuong Street

Because the villa is tucked into a quiet neighborhood, there aren’t many places within 200m. But walk about 5 minutes out to Nguyen Tri Phuong Street and, during the day, you’ll find plenty of small family-run shops serving real local food at very friendly prices:

  • Pho Hoang: walk to the end of our lane, turn left and go about 50m.
  • Mi Quang: sold at small stalls all along the road from the villa to the Old Town. Look for a “Mì Quảng” sign.
  • In the evening: casual beer spots, duck porridge and chicken rice. The closest is Com Ga Ca (Ca’s chicken rice), about 300m away.

These places rarely have an English menu and sell by time of day, so just ask us for directions and what to order. For breakfast, you can also eat right at the villa from our breakfast menu with Mi Quang, beef pho and Hoi An banh mi.

2. Across Thanh Nam Bridge: a whole food street over the river

For more variety, cycle across Thanh Nam Bridge. Just over 1km on the other side you’ll find a lively cluster of restaurants, most of them open until about 9–10pm.

Along the Huyen Tran Cong Chua riverside

Right after Thanh Nam Bridge there is an evening-only riverside beer spot, perfect for grilled snacks in the river breeze. Keep going along Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street and at night it is lined with everything from seafood and Thai food to Western dishes. The two easiest to find:

  • Hoa Hien Restaurant (35 Tran Quang Khai, with a second frontage on the Huyen Tran Cong Chua riverside): Hoi An specialties and Vietnamese dishes, about 10:00–21:30.
  • Hoi An Steakhouse Riverside (71 Tran Quang Khai): steaks and Western grills, about 12:00–22:00.

On Tran Nhan Tong Street

If you skip the riverside and head straight to Tran Nhan Tong Street, you’ll find a few more places travelers rave about:

Restaurant Address Food Hours
Firefly Garden Restaurant & Bar 178 Tran Nhan Tong Vietnamese, Western, pizza, vegetarian options 11:30–21:30
Purple Lantern 2 172 Tran Nhan Tong Vietnamese, vegetarian options 11:00–21:00
Nhan’s Kitchen 167 Tran Nhan Tong Vietnamese plus pizza and pasta, good value 10:00–21:00

Opening hours are taken from review sites and may change with the season. If you’d like a local to guide you through the Old Town’s street food, our family’s Hoi An food tour covers 6 tastings in 3 hours.

3. Don’t miss: the “million-dollar view” stalls on Luong Nhu Bich

This is the spot we recommend most to couples. From the villa, ride straight along Nguyen Tri Phuong Street toward the small Cam Nam Bridge. Where the road turns right onto the bridge, don’t turn: keep going straight and you’ll reach the Luong Nhu Bich riverside, where a row of casual eateries sets tables right at the water’s edge.

The stalls open from around 5pm, which is also the best time to catch the sunset. The menu here is all about food to share over a cold beer: hotpot, seafood and grilled meats. Two favorites:

  • Pho Song Quan (Phố Sông Quán): a riverside spot on Cam Nam with tables by the water, cold beer, hotpot and grilled dishes.
  • Nem Hoi An (64 Luong Nhu Bich): seafood, barbecue and Vietnamese dishes, dinner only. Some guests report it closes on Tuesdays, so check before you go.

Tip: arrive before 5:30pm to grab a table right by the river.

4. GrabFood: the easiest option

Rainy day, tired legs, or simply not in the mood to go out? GrabFood works really well around the villa. Open the Grab app, tap a few times and your food arrives at the gate for very little money.

  • Delivery address: 448/8 Nguyen Tri Phuong, Hoi An Ward, Da Nang City (old address: 448/8 Nguyen Tri Phuong, Cam Nam Ward, Hoi An, Quang Nam), or drop a pin on “Fairy Garden Villa”.
  • Our lane is quite small. If the driver can’t find it, message us on WhatsApp and we’ll guide them in.
  • You’re welcome to use the shared kitchen to heat up and enjoy your meal. Please note the villa doesn’t allow big parties or alcohol on the premises.

FAQ

Is it far from the villa to the restaurants?

Not at all. The local stalls on Nguyen Tri Phuong are about a 5-minute walk; the food street across Thanh Nam Bridge and the Luong Nhu Bich riverside are about 10 minutes by bike.

Is it safe to cycle back at night?

Very safe. The villa is surrounded by long-established Hoi An families who all know each other, just like a traditional Vietnamese village. The lane is less brightly lit than the Old Town, so we’ll show you the best-lit route or call a ride for you whenever you need.

Is it easy to reach the villa by car?

Private cars are a little limited: we only have one car parking space and our lane is rather “petite”, so please keep that in mind if you plan to drive yourself. Taxis, Grab cars and transfer vehicles can reach the villa easily.

How far is the villa from Da Nang Airport?

About 32km. We are happy to arrange an airport pickup for you.
